Women's Day 2014

There's nothing like wearing the newest Women's Day fabric to feel a part of life in the city here.  This is one of those holidays that surprised us here - seems America left suffrage/lib in the dust a while back.  Here people celebrate women and their contributions to society - in its best sense a day when the family cooks for the mom and she can leave the kids at home and have a day out.  In its worst - well, let's just say  it can be a license to sin extravagantly.

I was of course disappointed in having to do all my regular household chores with a bit of extra stress thrown in.  At least we got good pictures the next day, and maybe next year I'll voice my expectations in advance instead of after the fact.

On the way to church on Sunday, we spotted 61 folks wearing the Women's Day material, with 61 different designs.  50 on the way home.  This is the first year I've had anything made with the fabric.  It's fun and a good reminder that Karl values me; after all, he's the one that arranged to have my dress made in time to give it to me for Valentine's Day.
