"So where did you both meet?"
Well, Karl & I were both kids growing up in Zaire (now Congo). Although we did see each other in passing, we lived at different mission stations. Then, even when Karl came to the boarding school I attended, we didn't pay much attention to each other. After all, I was a ninth grade girl and he was a seventh grade boy. Not much in common, especially as Karl was an outdoors guy and I was more interested in academics and indoor things.
We met up again years later. I was in Africa as a short-term missionary; Karl was guiding hunts. Due to civil war in Central African Republic, we both ended up at loose ends in Cameroon for a while and started hanging out.
How romantic, that ten years and three kids later, we get to relive the unrest that sparked our early relationship. :)
Karl was apologizing for not providing stability to us. I appreciate his thoughtfulness, but really, it was not his doing, and he HAS provided the stability of a committed relationship with me and with God. That provides a lot more emotional stability than many people enjoy. We are blessed.
