This last week was Camp Sam, an annual tradition where my folks get us all together at their house to enjoy time and reconnect with the family. Now I've always had a big family - 5 siblings - but now with the next generation growing it is getting incredibly complicated to get us all together. Karl & I are a big part of that problem, what with our living in Africa a large part of the time. Then, too, my youngest sister just got back from a 2+ year time in the Philippines with the Peace Corps.
We had a few tiffs and misunderstandings, but overall we sure love each other. Reminds us of an apt song that's a family joke:
We're all together again, we're here, we're here
We're all together again, we're here, we're here
And who knows when we'll be all together again
Singing, 'All together again, we're here, we're here.'
Can't ever let the family jokes die, even if it was embarrassing for the person who was caught singing this 3 octaves too high into an airport reflective pillar. Because that's how family is.
