shoes

I finally gave in to the cultural pressure to put shoes on my kid.  So now she's set to go.  But where?

The story of her life so far is that of the unexpected.  If I'd known I'd only spend one week at camp this year, I certainly wouldn't have brought all that stuff in our luggage.  For bragging rights, she can claim to have travelled internationally without a passport before she was 2 weeks old and through three continents, four countries, and several states before she was 6 months old.

Psalm 139 reminds us that God knew every day of our lives before one of them came to be.  None of the civil war or turmoil in Central African Republic was a surprise to him.  Even as we planned to settle in to the camp there, God knew we'd need to change direction in just a couple of months.

Where to next?  We plan to spend the next two years back in Yaoundé, Cameroon, teaching at Rain Forest International School.  But in the meantime, as we raise support, God is with us.  Where we are now is sacred & holy because of his presence.  In Exodus, God told Moses, "Take off your shoes, for the place you are standing is holy ground."  Moses took the time to embrace the sacred time with God, right where he was, before putting his shoes on again to head back to Africa (Egypt).  May I do likewise.
