YAY for Grandpa Farfar and Grandma Farmor!

So much fun this last month, having Karl's parents visit.  They read lots of books to the kids, played games, and made cookies with the cookie dough that didn't get eaten first.  I know it's definitely a blessing to have a family you can enjoy being with!

Karl's dad knows more about rainforest trees than most people in the world, so our yard is sporting a bit more diversity after their visit.  I remember the thick, colored leaves of these bushes from when I was little back at Wasolo.  Now we have about 8 varieties, I think.

Meanwhile, Karl's been reading and writing away for his ACSI accreditation for teaching at Rain Forest International School.  He knows that finishing the paper and books will be pretty unlikely if he can't get it done before school begins.

Also in our daily schedule right now - Karl's gotten up a small competition with couple of the teenage boys who are a bit at loose ends in the summer.  First one to read 10 books of the Bible, run 100k, and do 1000 push-ups wins.  It sounded like a great idea to me, and I've encouraged them all in their endeavors with a promise of a prize at the end.  I'm toying with the idea of merely presenting the winner with the red ribbon/plastic "TOP QUALITY" thing I've harvested from a rice bag...we'll see!

It's time to get off the computer: my 1yr old is licking the inside of the pineapple peel from the compost.
