Collected News

I can't think of much, but here are the new things around here:

1. Michael had his 2nd round of vaccinations - 36 hrs of fever/fussiness, then all was better

2. Except he hasn't been eating well. Or sleeping well.

3. Finally I realized it was thrush in his mouth/throat; started him on a prescription today (after several consultations since the original prescription is not available, but a dif't name/older version is...wanted to make sure he got the right dosage).

4. Marianne, a Cameroonian friend, has been coming twice a week now to watch the kids and help with various house chores. It's helpful to have her here, and she is SO pleasant to be around.

5. I have 5 piano students, who all practice. Maybe a sixth starting in October?

6. I have a contact email connected to an orphanage. Haven't heard back yet.

7. I have no idea what to do about Ruth's birthday next Tuesday - but I want to do SOMEthing.

8. Our Bible study finished "Shepherding a Child's Heart" - now we're going to try a new study book, "Cultivating Contentment."

9. Another mom of a kid Ruth's age is back in town; maybe I'll see her this week at Bible study?

10. Two of the other ladies in Bible study had their babies 2 weeks ago. Lots of little ones around now! Except we're each staying closer to home as we transition with that.

11. Grandpa Paul is planning to arrive on Ruth's birthday, along with a replacement stroller wheel and a replacement camera (if it ships in time) and replacement soccer cleats (all of which broke a while ago). It will be good to see him.

12. Chicken peanut sauce and rice for supper: taste and see that the Lord is good!

  1. Thanks for the update! My Ruthie can't be TWO already!!!!!!!!!! I am a big fan of Shepherding, glad you did it! And I hope you get all your goodies along with Grandpa. Don't let him give Michael any exotic fruits.

  2. But Michael probably LIKES durian! :-) I hope you think of something fun for Ruth's birthday. Have all the kids over for make-your-own pizzas? Take a ride on the new stroller wheel? Make a pan of monkey bars? Let her play at the playground ALL DAY LONG?

  3. I think a morning outdoor tea party in the yard, with 2 other girls while their brothers are occupied at preschool. That sounds manageable. If the weather cooperates. :)

Paul won't be coming in until late in the day (with the stroller wheel). We'll probably have cake & ice cream after he arrives.
