Fountain Tradition

I was so pleased today to finally be able to fix Ruth's hair. She has some great clips that would stay in except she pulls them out (along with a few blonde strands of hair). But today she was fascinated with my ponytail holder in my hair, and I thought she JUST MIGHT sit still for a minute or so and I could try to do something.

With 3 younger sisters, I remember a whole tradition of fountains for the youngest sibling. So I set her on the back of the toilet seat, standing, where she couldn't easily get down and where I knew she would want to see things usually off-limits, and I was able to comb her hair into a fountain. What fun! And this one stayed in all afternoon at school, despite her hand trying to pull it out. Maybe I'll try pigtails soon. But if she protested for the second one, it would look funny and non-symmetrical. We'll see. No matter. She's pretty cute, if I do say so myself. Oh wait, I'm supposed to say that - I'm the mom...

- some people called her pebbles, by I set them straight! It's a fountain.

  2. I must say, it is a cute little head from which the fountain comes forth! I think 2 pigtails would be quite cute. Your Africa looks so lush and green...Missing that here in Michigan right now! One of my co-workers is from Cameroon...grew up in Yaounde. I'm learning a little bit from her about the culture and enjoy doing so.
